CopperheadOS release: Android 10

Posted by James Donaldson on February 16, 2020

Android 10 bumps up security

The release of CopperheadOS on Android 10 brings a lot of exciting new features, fixes and functionality. Some of these changes may seem familiar to CopperheadOS users with Google adding Copperhead features into stock Android, such as the "Allow only while in use" App permission, the "Sensors Off" toggle and functions which block applications from accessing the Clipboard in the background. Google's notable addition to Android 10 is the addition of Scoped Storage which provides a robust way for application developers to control how much, or how little, their application requires access to files on the device.

Privacy focused users will be pleased to note that DuckDuckGo is now the default search engine in our hardened Chromium release.

We're also excited about the host of customization options which Android 10 brings, allowing users to tailor a UI experience that is truly unique to their tastes. From system-wide settings such as Dark Mode, and Focus Mode, to customizable and resizable windows, icons, and widgets, to customizable vibration intensity. You decide exactly how your Android looks.

Pixel 2 and 2 XL customers will be receiving this update rollout immediately. If you experience issues updating contact our support department.
